WOW! I am lazy!

OK, not really. But I feel lazy. I slept in until 9! I never do that anymore.

The hubby is out of town right now, so instead of our normal in-bed-by-10, I was up late reading. It was kinda nice. Not that I don't miss my hubby. I do. But sometimes it is nice to have a quiet evening of no TV and just reading a good book.

I am FINALLY finishing The Secret Life of Bees. I am funny with books sometimes. Even if they are super good, it usually takes me a while to finish them. I get distracted at times, you see. ADD!!! How I ever have gotten this far in school, I dunno. ;p

I plan on finishing it today & starting another one. I have a stack I plan to read. Now I just need to figure which one is next. Or maybe I should start reading the Harry Potter books. Any other suggestions? I heard that Middlesex is good. Anyone read it? Any suggestions on the next book to consider?

Middlesex is AWESOME!!! Read that next for sure. I LOVE LOVE Secret Life of Bees too - what did you think about it?

I just read Middlesex for the second time. I really enjoyed it. I read it for my bookclub that I loved so much. I think you would also enjoy Eat, Pray, Love (but it's a memoir, funny anecdotes, not a story), 19 Minutes is super good - or basically anything by Jodi Picoult - I'd recommend starting with 19 minutes or My Sister's Keeper. :)
Have you read the Kite Runner? Also SUPER GOOD!

I'm loving the Harry Potter books. They're brilliant! I'm on book 6 right now. Just started it last night. Hopefully will have 7 done by the end of the month, but I don't want it to end it really has been a fascinating adventure.

Jodi Picoult is a fantastic writer. I heart her and any of her books.

I want to read Kite Runner too, but was told that it is a bit depressing. Someday I'll get to it, but sometimes, books affect me deeply. I even have nightmares (ie - The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold). The husband had to have me put it away for a bit and gave me a talk on how I shouldn't read these types of books b/c I don't do well with them.

Case in point with the Kite Runner I guess. . . .

Anyway, Middlesex looks interesting, but I am also in the middle of reading Eat, Love, Pray by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's good. It's funny, witty and insightful and all about finding oneself through their journeys/travels. I only have the desire to travel Italy thus far and listen to the beautiful language. India and I would not mix well. . . I'd be sick the entire time and we all know how my insurance is.

My book collection is HUGE. My dad always said, "wait until you have to move them" where he has a point, but books are my obsession. I'll drag those anywhere. I wish you still lived near me, I'd share. Ian, Nikki and I used to do that a lot.

Books, like friends, should be chosen with love. Go with what feels right.

*Middlesex* is well written.
Maybe more interesting for your gen than mine, however.
One of Jodi's books is dedicated to your auntie in Santa Fe. Everyone loves Jodi.
*The Kite Runner* is one of my top 3 favs ever. Everyone needs to read that.
*The Emporer's Children* is outstanding and especially for you as it is mostly about your age group looking at life and role models-their strengths and weaknesses. An excellent book.
And although I haven't yet read it, everyone is talking about how good the book *Water for Elephants* is.
And of course *The Memory Keeper's Daughter* is a huge seller. Auntie in Santa Fe says Kim Edwards might be her new fav. author. A strong critique since she is an author herself....

Go to my blog and read what I wrote about I AM THE MESSENGER. It's really good. Written by an Austrailian so the words and phrases are different but none the less good!
My sisterlittle had to read it for part of her Masters.

P.S. Your mom is right. The Memory Keepers Daughter is very good. Again, something that hit me hard in the emotions. . .
